A small hummingbird frozen in action near some flowers at the Canopy Tower in the Soberania National Forest in Panama. The fact that these birds are so small and fast made them very difficult to photograph. They never stay in one place for more than a fraction of a second, so composing and focusing had to be done extremely quickly. Many times by the time you had pressed the shutter button, the bird was completely out of the frame, three or four feet away at another flower. Those factors and the perfectly outstretched wings of this hummingbird combined to make this image an extremely satisfying achievement.
